Lullaby Project
Amplifying Love, Connection & Healing for Parents & Caregivers
Evan Premo has been facilitating the composition of lullabies in Vermont in collaboration with the Lullaby Project | Carnegie Hall for the last five years. The Lullaby Project pairs parents and caregivers with professional musicians and writers to compose and sing lullabies for their children. Working with the Vermont Network and Writers for Recovery, they have brought the Lullaby Project to survivors of domestic and sexual violence in communities and at the Vermont women’s correctional facility. Each song amplifies love, connection and healing. Evan reports that this is a powerful experience and the culminating performances that result from the work are amazing.
This project is now fully funded through the Vermont Department of Corrections and another national publicly funded grant. Northwoods Music Collaborative will serve as sponsor for this program in Vermont and also plans to expand it into the Upper Peninsula of Michigan (UP) partnering with musicians, foundations, and eventually the Michigan Department of Corrections. NMC will plan a pilot project in Marquette during June 2-8, 2025, working with partners from the Vermont project (Marianne Perchlik and Amy Torchia) and involving UP artists and partners including the Women’s Center of Marquette.
“The music really warmed my soul.”
